Overwhelmed. Basic guidelines for planting?

Over the past year I have fallen in love with gardening. However, when it comes to planting my anxiety gets the best of me and its just completely overwhelming. In the ground or in a pot? What size pot should I be using? Companion plant or keep each plant separate?

Does anyone have any basic "guidelines" that might take some of the pressure off?

Ive got a bit of everything but nothing planted yet bc of my indecisive anxiety.

Moonflower vines, clematis, black eyed susan vine, morning glories (grow rampant here), sweet potato vine.

Petunias out the wazzoo, salvia, osteopermum, gazania, cosmos, purslane, sempervivem, fuschia, strawflower, ageratum, geranium, dahlias, coleus, Caladium, gerbera daisies, lupine, and an angel trumpet tree.

Any ideas or experiences would be greatly appreciated!!!!
