I do not think it is Sarah Berhardt but it is very pretty. Sarah Berhardt does not have the creamy petals near the guard petals.

I agree..def not a Sarah B. Beautiful though! You do need to plant it..the sooner the better. Try not to disturb the roots when doing so and make sure there is good air circulation and full sun in the spot you select. In the fall cut the brown foliage back. Enjoy!

A word of caution in planting potted peonies. They are generally just tossed into the pot and the pot is filled up. The root if left in the pot may or may not be planted at the best depth especially if you just put the whole mass in the ground and add dirt over top of it.

Wow thanks for that because that's exactly what I planned to do. Dig a hole and put the whole plant in there in tact. Well I'm doing this on Friday and so far I have Danimal saying don't disturb the roots and now maifleur saying don't just plop it in the ground. Humm what to do...

Also I returned to the scene and decided to get another in case the first died and I wound up with one in a different color. I think it's a different variety. Now I have two and no name. This one was already dying so excuse the pic. If anyone knows the name of this I would appreciate it.

Carefully remove the dirt until the top of the root where the growth is coming from is visible, but do not mess with the roots. Although peonies can be planted any time the dirt can be dug.
