This btw is the new view from the deck of our mountain cabin located at 4,000 feet elevation a bit south of Asheville, close to the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Nantahalla National Forest. If we can't budget to get the Walapini greenhouse in this year before winter then I will probably have to seriously thin out a lot of my adenium seedlings late this summer. There is not a lot over wintering space in the new home and I also have lots of orchids and tropical hibiscus to shelter. But I sure love this house and property!

If you need to thin some out, you may do so in my direction! ;-)

Joy Rich is divine.. Gorgeous shape and coloration.. A real treasure for you, along with that stunning new view you have.. Such a beautiful place to have a home.. Looks very peaceful and one with nature.. I hope that you will be very happy there.

Thank you all. I hope so too! Been so much rain coming up from the Gulf. You sure can tell that hurricane season has started. Wow. A lot of flooding in the South East right now.

Our hope is to dig out a long, deep trench below the house (not directly below) that will be reinforced so that the greenhouse will be a Walapini, set into the ground. The slope faces the south and is ideal for the longest possible sun exposure especially in winter. We plan to lay in heating cables and build a rocket mass heating stove so I can keep it warm in winter (via the stove when I am home) or via the heating cables if we are away from home. Because it gets fairly cold up here compared to Georgia.

If this project gets off the ground this year (next year is admittedly more likely) then I'll have somewhere for my coffee and cinnamon trees, orchids, tropical hibiscus, as well as my adeniums. Then it won't matter if it rains a lot. These plants are excellent anti-depressants in winter gloom!

Hyn Patty, it must be so exciting having your new home. I am totally envious of that beautiful view. I think I’d spend all day just sitting there, relaxing and breathing in the clean air. I wouldn’t get anything done all day.....Enjoy!

Your “Joy Rich” is a beautiful flower. I can just imagine how nice this plant will look covered in flowers. Happy growing!
