~Summer Round Robin 2018~

last modified: 8 years ago

Ok, maybe I am a fool but ready to try this again with better results now that the weather is happy for our little flowering friends.

I will start another Round Robin on Monday June 11th, this will give everyone some time to see the post and let me know they want to participate. Please send me a private message with your address or send to my email at stamik2004@gmail.com.

Please have your information to me no later than Saturday June 9th at 5:00pm. This will allow me to make up the list and get everything packed up for Monday.

I still have the nice packing material that Deb sent on its way and I will use it again with a new box.

Please choose what you would like out of the box and ship it out the next day to assure the plants are not staying in the box any longer than they have to. You can also post here what you took out of the box just for fun if you would like.

Also, if there are leaves or plants you see in the box that are on there last leg and clearly are not going to make it, please throw them out so we dont have "dead weight" going around.

Lastly, I am going to cap the box number at 12 as I cant see the original things to make it any further than that. If I reach 12 before the deadline, I will post here.

Expected is Wed but anytime I have shipped to California it has been 4 days including ship day. So dont be surprised if it doesnt come Wed.

Thanks, tracking says wed, but like you say, who knows.

Great, I am assuming the protocol will be to post here or message the next recipient with a "heads up" and tracking number?

Yes that helps keeping track of the box

Yep! Just post who its going to and the tracking. Please double check tracking before posting. Also can post what you took if you would like to share.

But please don't tell us what you're putting in the box. The next person in line wants to be able to ooh and ahh over their new fourd treasures.

I would of really liked to have some of the Nancy Reagan leaves all 4 leaves were brown. If anyone here would like small plants and leaves for postage in the fall message me with your address .Hope the plant material is in better shape when it gets to Ky. I changed the box to a foam box It is lighter and stronger It looks like a mini cooler. It is going to get even hotter 90's starting Friday. I put the silver bag on the bottom of the box thought you might want it. Left out the bubble wrap the box is stuffed with violets Have fun Joan

So sorry the Nancy Raegan leaves didnt make it to you. I will send you some this week or we can wait till fall... I couldnt have packed it any better. I guess the heat zaps them over too long of a trip.

Fall would be good We can do a swap anything your looking for ?

I love this idea, I took out leaves that were iffy, hope they make it. I think cooler weather would help.

Round robins.. are usually for Spring/Fall. And yes, I would of taken a chance and joined in- and took out stuff that died/rotted, and replaced. ;) Usually one- to one trades do really well in summer temps. The box only travels once, versus- many, many times. I'll check in on this, and see how it goes.

Sent you a PM Joan... Deb so sad you arent in this one! ... Maybe you can do one for us in the Fall. :)

Staci, I never got your PM?

    Sorry Patricia not Joan! Lol

Looks like the post office messed up again ,I wish they would hire people that care about their job,The box is in Ohio It went north instead of south I hope that foam box keeps those plants safe

I guess I am confused?... Is it going to the right address?

The box is out for delivery. It went to the distribution center in Ohio because I get my mail thru that facility. I live in the Cincinnati, Ohio area just across the Ohio river in KY. The postal facility in Ohio serves a large portion of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.

The box is here and most all in the box are fine. I had to throw out only 2 bags. I am keeping 10 bags and will refill the box to send on to Vikki tomorrow, Tuesday. Will post tracking # then. The styro box kept everything cool enough in our 100 degree temps. Hope the rest of you participating enjoy the box!

You guus can certainly do another one. I will wait for fall. The box is making short trips now so it is doing really well. Inwould rather wait till the casualty count is better all arpund lol. Im sure Deb would love to do one for us then!

Vikki, I mailed it at 4pm on Tues. I think nobody worked the next day? Fri. sounds right.

The PO keeps processing and moving things along on Sunday and holidays. They just don't deliver those days. The box came today after the mailperson came through 3 times! (Efficiency is thy name.) Once with our regular mail, again a half hour later with a box from Amazon, and than almost an hour after that with the box of leaves. It was steaming inside, like it had been sitting in the sun all day ... but they survived, amazingly. Only a couple of the plantlets look like they might not make it, and that was because they were way too wet, like dripping wet. Anyway, I kept leaves of Music Box Dancer, Live Wire, O. Trinidad II, Wrangler's Pink Patches (love the variegation!), Eskimo Kisses, Mac's Strawberry Sundae, Blue Dragon and Mermaid. Plantlets of Wrangler's Dixie Celebration, O. Sensation, Rob's Slap Happy and Rhapsodie Michelle (is this the first one is or is Rhapsodie Michelle II?), mainly because I doubt some would make it to Jeff alive.

Jeff, here's your tracking # 9405803699300661546657. It'll ship tomorrow, Saturday. I decided it was better to hold it an extra day here than let the PO have it for an extra day.

Great! Looking forward to getting it!

Got the box yesterday. Mailed it out today. 9505 5129 2501 8191 1043 54 via USPS. Should be arriving at Staci's on Friday.

Hooray, we did it! Little hiccups but we have learned super early spring isnt best for weather nor is mid summer (unless we use styrofoam). Thanks everyone for playing and hope you found some things to add to your collection.

Why do I always miss these? LOL.

Oh Sue!... Sorry you missed it.

Lots of nice varieties in the box when I got it today! Whomever put in Wild Irish Rose leaves I thank you! On my “hot” list and was tickled pink! Have a great summer everyone! <3

keep that box for fall trading

    Yep, thats the plan.

Yay, glad to see this went well. :) I don't like to trade when it's super hot, so usually I wait until Fall. It's coming.. One more month left (August) and then things cool down drastically. September is the start of trade season again!
