Yes stihl rebranded products from them when only making chainsaws. Obviously stihl thought the market was good to eventually design their own. Echo also rebranded zenoahs/Redmax in the 70 80s. I've the stihl zenoah fs80s from the 70s. That's how I learned about this tidbit.

The neat thing (when it comes to original FS80\65\etc. parts) being they built for many brands(including weedeater!!), you can find identical parts for alot cheaper on obscure models under other brands.

Also , if u have trouble with the TK carb, I posted a video on youtube on how to replace it with a zama carb on my 80s so it could give u an idea how to replace yours if u want.

upup, thanks for the info. the kit i found is reasonably priced so i think i'll give it a try. i read those tk carbs are a little finicky. what's the link to your video.

I looked yours up, the motor looks like the stihl fs62/3 so the 2 original carb screws should hold a zama.

hi, good job on the old stihl. i run across those old slide valve carbs, mainly on old shindiawa stuff. don't mess with them anymore. here's some pics of the carb that came off that blower.
