My potted tree (3 years old) is shaped like a V. So far it has never responded to my efforts to get it to branch. It just produces a new leader. This year I did not haul it down to the chilly dark basement to overwinter, so it broke dormancy very early and the 2 tips grew like weeds.

I will need to cut them, or at the rate it’s going, I will not be able to get it back in through the door this fall.

As long as I have to cut the tips, I thought I may as well try to root them. If I can’t get it to branch maybe I can plant the rooted tips in the same pot.
