Altering a sofa’s dimensions

I have a fairly expensive custom sofa that we never found particularly comfortable. It’s about 8 or 10 years old and in good shape, but I’m thinking about replacing it if I can’t find another option.

It’s a tight back, roll arm, 2- T-cushion exposed leg. The inside seat depth is 23” which seems to be fairly standard. It’s ok for sitting upright and having tea and crumpets, but we tend to sprawl and I like to tuck my legs up or nap on it, and we wish it was deeper.

How difficult or expensive might it be to have an upholsterer make the seat deeper? Is it even doable? I have to look up what we paid for it, but I’m guessing it would cost much more to replace it. I’d have to replace the cushions as well and reupholster. At some point it doesn’t make sense not to just buy a new one and try to sell the old one.

Any advice appreciated.
