Update Small Space Backyard

Hello Houzzers, hope you can help with some advise for a small yard. Would like more of a modern, inviting look and utilize the space as much as possible. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You could hang some kind of metal/garden art on the walls. Maybe some lights?

The furniture is really pretty. But it's all hidden in the corner. If you arrange it with one or two pieces facing the others it will look more inviting. And when people are seated they'll be facing each other, which will make conversation easier. Large plants behind furniture, or in corners would add depth to the space.

    Hi emendez57-

I would refinish the floor of your upper level as the wood has seen better days.

Get hanging planter boxes to suspend of the railing between your upper and lower levels and off the fence between your property and neighbor's property.

Fill them with foliage with interesting shapes, flowering plants, and trailing foliage.

    Purchase additional seating.

I know you probably worked hard on that complicated planting in the corner, but in this case, it limits your seating arrangement.

You don't give any dimensions, so I can't tell how much space you have.

You are better off getting rid of the sectional and purchasing two sofas, and 4 chairs, or instead of 4 chairs have two of the chairs be able to be loungers.

    Also purchase ottomans.

After those have been arranged, if, and only if, you can have a tall standing plant like a kentia palm or an areca palm that you can take in when it gets cold out.

You can also consider getting a standing heat lamp if you entertain a lot outdoors in the evening.
