I ordered a few new hostas from Naylor Creek in May and received the order the day after Memorial Day. All I can say it WOW! I ordered 9 varieties, Lime Shag, Little Miss Muffet, Paradise Puppet, Parisian Silk, Quill, Valley's Blue Curacao, Valley's Lemon Squash, Surprised by Joy, and Cheatin Heart. As you can see, I got mostly minis and 8 of the 9 are solids.

The package got hung up in the post office for 6 days, and the PS and VBC were looking a little peaked, but the rest looked none the worse for wear. I soaked all the plants for about an hour, then set out to plant. It quickly became obvious that these were going to take up more space than I had anticipated. VLS, Quill, and VBC were either singles or multiple stems, but with only one root system. Those 3 were easy. Then I tackled the other six, and discovered that the plants sent all had multiple divisions, and were easily divided. By the time I was done picking apart mini hosta roots, I had planted 25 hostas from those 6 plants. All were healthy and have settled in very well.

In addition, Naylor Creek ran out of Cheatin Heart, and substituted another hosta for it--Funny Bones, which came with 2 nice sized pieces. Cheatin Heart is a nice $9 hosta, but Funny Bones is rather new, not widely available, very attractive, and priced at $25 for a single division. This is an amazingly generous substitution.

I've ordered from Naylor Creek for many years, and they have always been one of my top three dealers, along with Hallson's and Rob Canning. All send very nice plants, packaged well, shipped quickly, and all provide excellent customer service and generous plants. But this order was simply exceptional, really made my day.

Also, thanks to Karin Black Cat for getting me started on the Valley hostas, I see many more of those in my future.
