New formatting...........

What do you think? I'm here in the house plant forum, trying to post to house plant forum, but to do so, I'll need to find "house plants" in a huge scrolling list of NON-ALPHABETICAL topics / forum names. Every time I look, "landscape design" is selected by default. That has nothing to do with houseplants!

The discussions no longer have a pic next to them.

Browsing house plant forum, I'm seeing discussions from other forums mixed in.

This is the worst update I've ever seen, of anything, anywhere.

Yep. It’s terrible, I agree. They did a great job if they’re trying to make people not want to use the site anymore.

I have a couple parts of the forum bookmarked so they’re easy to get to still. However, I can’t find anything else.

Yep, they are trying to get rid of us. If you look to the right you will see "view". Click on the two line square and you get the pictures back. I like to scroll all discussions, not just my favorites, and the only way I have found to do that is to log out.

TY, Sherry! That did put pics back on (what used to be?) forum page.

There is never any excuse for lack of alphabetical order.

What is the point of "top commenters"?

All of this newness, yet when I click a discussion I've visited before, I'm not automatically taken to the first unread post.

Is this “view” tab on mobile versions? I only browse on my phone and can’t seem to find that.

Seriously so ugly. It's terrible design, which is rich coming from a design company. :(

There is a forum called "Using Houzz" (who knew?) that has [THIS Thread[(https://www.houzz.com/discussions/new-look-for-gardenweb-topics-dsvw-vd~5342444?n=965) about the new look.

In the "Your Topics" list to the left of the screen, in the top right corner of it, you can edit the list to display only the specific forums that you want to see, but they'll still be listed randomly for some unknown reason that makes no sense whatsoever.

I could probably learn to stomach this format if only they didn't decide to force our browsers to open up a new tab every single time we click on something. Why they chose to do this, I'll never understand. The first time i encountered this, I ended up with countless tabs all crammed into my screen before realizing what was going on. Exactly how many times are they going to switch between this and the old setup? I've seen it several times now before it reverts back to the previous look.

One thing that I did like was how they changed the Houzz "H" logo to look like a tiny house. I thought that was pretty clever.

The thing I hate the most is the new tab for each discussion! So infuriating.

It's BAD and I HATE It!!!
I Can't Seem To Post a New Thread and My Poinsettia One For This Year Has Gone Walks, IF Anyone Finds It Please Send it Back To Me

There is just no explanation for this. They were in alphabetical order, so someone must have purposely UNDONE the alphabetical order. Why, just why????????????????????????????

Is anyone who actually uses GW involved in it now?

"Is anyone who actually uses GW involved in it now?"

Not sure what you mean by this :-)

If you access the list of forums from the 'Explore Topics' option on the far left side under the 'Your Topics' listing (rather than accessing from Stories and Advice), the GW forums are presented in an alphabetized list. Although they have mixed in all the Home forums as well. But the list of topics or forums you follow (under Your Topics) is still just a non-alphabetized jumble....which is somewhat irritating if you have a lot listed.

Otherwise, while still not visually easy to use or read, I am finding the new format workable. Still numerous bugs to be worked out, like the triple forum posting, which is a confusing mess, and the new tabs for every post and the lack of a back button feature.

GG, the list of forums on the far left under Explore Topics is not in alphabetical order for me on any of my devices. The Home topics are in a separate section below, not mixed in.

My question is asking if anyone who is a regular user of the site was consulted or had any input about the changes because the changes do not seem like those that a gardener &/or regular user of GW would consider, let alone unleash.

Also noticing that the profile pic next to each post is too small to bother having, and hovering over them does not popup any info about them.

Yes, it does appear that any alphabetizing seems to be random :-) Some see the forums (or "topics" as Houzz likes to call them now) alphabetized and others not. I would just like my own list of topics alphabetized!!

And there apparently was some beta testing with GW members undertaken before the change, as I know of at least one gardening forum regular that was involved. But I have no idea how extensive it was or what logic there was behind who they selected for the test.

Ninecrow, is this the thread you are looking for? Poinsettia 2018.

I just typed 'poinsettia' into the search box as usual.

Really makes a lot of sense to have dozens and dozens of fora in organized by what exactly..., whateve'?! Makes no sense at all! Complete waste of time now.

    It’s a bummer.

I’ve noticed myself spending much less time on this forum since the reformat.
