Pick Your Favorite Combination

I'm noodling around with table settings for a casual brunch and have pared my choices down to four. If you wouldn't mind, please vote for the one you like best. I understand that I have the napkin on the wrong side in some pictures and that nothing is ironed, so you don't need to help me with that part. Thanks...you are the best!

I really like 8. It's mixing patterns but is a a little cleaner with the white plates.

I like 8 because I don't care for the way food looks on colored plates, so the bright placemat and nice bird napkin set off the white plate nicely. Food will look much more appetizing on that plate.

First choice #5, then 8. Depending on the food you’re serving...which plate would look better.

#1 but replace the white napkin with the small green checked napkin.

2 and 5. But now you give us 8 and it’s good too. But I love the green rimmed plates!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I think #8 is the one I'll use and I wouldn't have put it together without your help.

Linderhof, I think the menu will be simple as there will only be four of us. Scrambled eggs, bacon, strawberries with lemon creme fraiche optional, toasted brioche or cinnamon bread, champagne, orange juice, coffee.

Another vote for 8. Cheerful and pretty and, as others have said, food looks better on a white plate.

No. 4. But like them all. ETA, no 8. Didn’t notice that you had 4 more additions to the original 4. 4 and 8 are my faves.

If plaid cloth is a given, I'd go with a white plate (and the bird napkin), so my vote is for 8. The white gives it some space and makes the details of the floral bird napkin stand out more.

Plaid and the colorful plate with flowers and flower napkin is too much IMO.

Fun2bhere -- sounds like a good menu! But . . . I always say the difference between breakfast and brunch is dessert! LOL! I always serve a dessert (it COULD be cinnamon rolls or a sweeter coffee cake) at brunch time. What centerpiece?

    Fun2BHere thanked User

Linderhof, I wish you were here to make one of your delicious desserts for us! The cinnamon bread I have is very sweet and glazed so I think it will have to suffice. If I set the table with the butter, jam, creme fraiche and coffee accoutrement added to the place settings, there's really not room for a centerpiece. I might place one bloom in a bud vase at each place instead.

The table setting before adding any flowers. I'll see what's blooming in the garden tomorrow morning. I may decide to move the coffee-related items to another adjacent counter.

    • Whew! I made it to the bottom, too late to vote, but I'm not looking to go buy anything either. The last discussion of mixing china I got into resulted in me buying some plates and bowls to mix in with my mom's china -- and then finding some additional stems of a discontinued French crystal that I had to buy. But I have some white china with red rosebuds that would look really cute with your tablecloth! Strawberries and such too. Heehee.

Lacatx, I like that pattern because the rosebuds are more graphic than realistic so the pattern feels more contemporary.

Fun2be -- those were the everyday dishes we registered for when we got married -- 27 tears ago. The pattern has been discontinued and when we redid the kitchen I decided I was tired of it and it didn't really fit my house full of guys. I haven't used it and the boys have not interest i ever having it, plus I got my mom's china when she passed. I have to make choices, so the rosebuds are going away. Just need to decide how.

Hope you had a nice brunch.

Brunch was very nice. The guests brought a berry tart and a small orchid which was perfect since I hadn’t planned a dessert. I enjoyed seeing the pictures from their most recent travels
