Towel rack inside shower?
I have a freestanding tub being placed as shown in the photo. This tub is "inside" the shower enclosure. On the opposite wall from the tub is the shower head(s). I would like to put the towels inside the shower enclosure as far away from the shower heads as possible. So my thinking was to put them either above the tub or on one of the side walls by the ends of the tub. I'd like to make it somewhat of a design "feature" where I can store all my bath towels as opposed to just slapping a towel rack on a wall for a single hanging towel. One more note, the entire closure is being "tiled" in case that effects the thought process. Any ideas on where to put the towels and how to make it look nice? Thank you!!!

8 years agoI would put an elegant polished 3 tier towel rack exactly where there's the 3 lines in the wall on the upper portion of the wall, or same height but on the left wall corner if the bath is too much to reach over.

I did have someone suggest that I build a cut out into the wall above the tub with teak shelves extending outward another 6-8 inches. The towels would be rolled up. Here's the drawing. The problem with this idea is that I'd have to build the wall out about 6-12 inches to have enough depth for a niche and a shelf. Oh, and I'd have to move the drain that we already built further away from the current wall.
- 8 years agoRolled up towels are very pretty but not at all practical unless you want to use a fresh towel every time and don't mind folding all those fresh towels in a complicated way.
I was going to suggest a towel rack with a shelf above it, or a very narrow niche cut into the wall above the tub, or even just some floating shelves. That would give you space for some rolled up towels (former) or bath accessories (latter).
