It it were mine, rather than a deck over, I'd cover it with a layer of concrete pavers. It would be lower maintenance than a deck. You could expand to whatever size/shape you wanted. You could eliminate that 1/2 height bottom step by meeting the paver level with it flush. A wood deck on grade is not going to last as long and they tend to get grungy look faster than a raised deck. Given that you are probably going to keep the shape something simple, you could probably create a patio with nearly no paver cutting. You'd need to raise grade (blend) to meet the new patio grade but it wouldn't be a lot. There'd also need to be a little reworking of a couple of walks where they meet the patio.

Thank you for the suggestion. I think I'm going to go with the floating deck with a step up on either side, deck width, and do a slab/pavers in front of the window for additional seating etc. What do you think?

You need to lay out the reasoning behind your decisions in order that one could evaluate your intentions. Also, include a simple plan in order that one knows where the things you propose are to be. (There is more than one window.)
