New growth is a bit brown

My Lions head maple was planted 3 years ago and has done well. It's putting on new growth but the new growth looks a bit brown and dry. It hasn't rained in 11 days and the ground is drying up, could it be drought related? The rest of the tree looks fine. I can post a photo tomorrow.

A photo would help to confirm but yes, the browning on new growth could be a sign of drought stress. Until they become very well established (10+ years), soil for JM's should always be consistently moist. And even after full establishment they will need periodic deep watering during extended dry spells.
