Tuff or Tiny Tuff?

I got this guy as a rescue on the clearance wagon at a nursery two weeks ago. Totally crispy and underwatered, but had some nice broccoli. I put him in a good spot, watered regularly, and he's coming back nicely. However the leaves are much smaller compared to a Tuff Stuff Red that is much younger. Is this a Tiny Tuff Stuff mislabeled?

Tuff Stuff rescue:

Compared to a Tuff Stuff Red that is much younger:

Couple year old Endless Summer (I think) for comparison:

I can take some more pics if these aren't clear enough. Also it's still in its pot as I haven't quite decided where to put him. Maybe the pot is stunting leaf growth?

Makes sense to compare those two in that way but I do not have them. A nearby nursery sold out of the Tuff Stuff so I could not compare the leaves this afternoon for you. Should it get larger than 2' then it would not be the 'tiny' version.

Thanks Luis. He's looking to be bigger than that right now so I guess he must be TS. Can't wait to see full blooms!

Poor nursery care can dwarf leaves for the season. I would wait to judge until next season and then compare the two. I love Tuff Stuff because it blooms consistently starting in early summer.

All right, it should be getting ready to start blooming soon for you then, right? Enjoy.

I had seen both for sale together down here a month ago but only a few pots of Tiny Tuff Stuff were left in stock now. Hydrangea stock are going downhill over here now; not too many left compared to several months ago. Too bad. Sigh. I usually like to see hydrangeas blooming when I visit the stores... even if not going to there to buy them.
