I never found any place to tell you what everything is.3 new blooms and somewhere around 500 seedlings

Hi Rachel I was not going do any pollinating this year or untell I got rid of some but along came that dark purple the other day now I will have to cross it with something don't know if I will use a white or a yellow

Oh look at this adenium kingdom!!! Seems like a lot of them may bloom this summer? Do you keep them in a shade?

You have some lovely flowers there.. But good grief, I thought that my 202 seedling collection is extravagant.. Don't know how you can find the time for 500.. Are you known to them as "Servant"? Noticed that one potted plant on your bench is tipsey and might appreciate an upright position, LOL.. Aren't they a lot of fun - besides being time, space and money hogs! I hope they all are blooming winners for you.. Enjoy!!!

Hi Elena they get about 4hrs full sun a day they can't take much more than that it's been around 100 to 107 most days and very dry .

Hi Paradiseprincess t think I have a total of around 700 it is a full time jod but it's keeps me from getting bored and going back to work I graft some to sell and cross pollinate some to see what I get. Yes I have to stand some up most everyday the deer come in and check everything out at nite so far none have tried to eat any just make a mess

Roger, where do you live to get such high temperatures (and deer)?. Arizona, Texas?. I'll count my blessings then, here in Hawaii, that we typically don't get above 92 degrees.. I subject my plants (both mature and seedlings) to at least 6 hours of strong sunlight for growth and blooms, along with occasional cloud cover.. So far, no one is complaining.. We have Axis deer here (originally from India) but no one has leapt a wall yet. Seems like you might be of retirement age (as I am) to have the time to devote to this wonderful adenium raising occupation.. Never a dull moment between plant inspection for pests, new buds, new growth, repotting and much more.. Keep busy and stay happy.

Hi Paradiseprincess I live in west Texas (San Angelo) yes been retired for almost 10 years now and don't miss work one bit I have been playing with adeniums for about 20 years now keeps me going

Wow, 20 Years! What is your oldest plant? I remember you had some really big ones! Plants I got from you are doing great, I’ll take picture after work ... temps getting over 100 here as well, some of my plants under 30% shade but it’s probably won’t be enough.... I’ll have to come up with some kinda structure for the rest of them and maybe even switch to 50% shade. Heat is getting so intense that some of the buds dryed up. But... at the same time night temperatures are in 50s, how crazy is that! Last night was 51!

Anyways, keep posting your blooms Roger, we love to see all of them! Every one of yours 500 seedlings, lol.

Roger, that tiny flower is so cute. You may well find that the flower ends up a bit bigger as the plant matures....but I like it this size :)

Good looking stuff Roger! You have some big shoes; I want to be just like you when I grow up. I retired 2 weeks ago and am working on about 200+ seedlings... have some from 2016 that will finally bloom this year...

I think you are right it will get bigger with age so I put it in the keep pile and will watch and see.

I'm too addicted to growing adeniums. Ive been doing it for a few years but had to start all over since I lost all my tree seedlings, bonsai and adeniums to Hurricane Irma. I have a few 2 years olds and about 50 tiny seedlings. I can never get any to flower, is there a secret? I have one that blooms but the flowers dont open, which is weird but I bought it at home dept. None one of which I've ever grown has flowered. I really want to pollinate some so I can get some seed pods but it seems impossible especially since I cant get any to flower.. lol but thats my goal...

Also, check out this adenium that my friend has..she hasnt watered it of even given it a second look in 6 years. She just threw it under her stairs and totally neglects it. Look at the nebari on this thing!

Loved seeing all the growing Adenium plants, seedlings, etc. You have got quite a collection to keep you busy. Nice! Wish I had that space for my small plant collection: Adenium, Bursera fagaroides, Operculicarya pachypus, and some Operc. decaryi seedlings.

Opercs, and Bursera....by far, the easiest fat-plants that I have ever grown. Trunks are thickening very nicely, and these plants are "grown hard"....in hot, full-sun all day, very gritty mix, and only getting water when it rains. Dormancy in NYC starts in early-November, and lasts until late-March.

However, to grow and keep healthy, Adeniums can be a real PITA! Aphids, spider mites, yellowing leaves, dropped blossoms, caudex rot, etc.....

I try. I like the flowers.

I'm having a bout with aphids right now, yellow ones and white ones. And i think i had spider mites on one of my other plants. There was a fine spider web and these white tiny shrimpy looking things. I've never seen these white ones before. As soon as that new growth starts with those fresh green leaves, its chow time for those little b*stards! Neem oil to the rescue!

We, well my mom still has that huge one that I got from you. It's starting to bloom. I would like one for myself some day.

That's amazing how much you've got going on there. I have a tiny one too. Its rather disappointing, actually. Looks similar to yours. Its suppose to be blue. This year it has less white then last but still a single rather then a dble.
