It depends on the mini. I had one, I think it was Best Friends, and it was about 4 ft tall. I have a few that are about 2ft tall.

Mini is referring to the size of the bloom.

They won't get that big. I don't think I've ever seen a 2 ft mini.

Thank you so much for the info, Moses. I’ve just been on the Miniature Roses forum & learnt some very useful things! I’m thinking of leaving the plants alone until the current buds bloom & then attempt to thin them out. I probably traumatized them yesterday. I took them from an a/c environment indoors at the grocery store to my a/c apartment for the day, then planted them outside in very hot (for us) weather in the evening because I didn’t want them to stay in the a/c, out of the sun & in those little pots one moment longer. I’ll post on their fate later in the season.

But by the way, the roses look so beautiful. I keep sticking my head out the door to stare at them & see how they’re doing

I currently grow a mini rose that is about 3.5 feet tall, and pushing 3 feet wide. It's extremely healthy and blooms constantly. I prune it hard in spring and it bounces back so fast, it seems like it regrows in days. It was a grocery store mini, and I have no idea what its name is. It is a fairly bright pink with a lot of coral tones, and the blooms are about 2 inches wide. In your zone 5b, I'm sure minis would not grow so large. I just thought I'd mention its size because some minis aren't so mini under the right conditions. Diane

I had a very nice rosarian friend who did tours of his home and he had one area dedicated to the Mini's he probably had close to 30 and the tallest 1 was over 3 and a 1/2 feet tall most of them were about 2' tall but there was some that were pretty impressive.

Hi Kristine, thanks for sharing that. I’m not surprised to hear that now, after seeing how beautiful & strong miniature roses can be. I’m really surprised. I imagine that with the right type under favourable conditions, they can be a wonderful addition to any rose lover’s garden.

They are a stripped mini. I don't see them getting very tall. So far they are super healthy . But in my experience , minis are more prone to BS

Mini means small flower and small foliage to match the flower size, not the bush size. Some mini varieties become large bushes, still maintaining the diminutive bloom and foliage.

Ditto what Moses said. Mini only refers to the size of the bloom and leaf, not the plant. There are mini climbers that can get 12 feet tall! However, in your zone 5, with the winter kill you can expect, I wouldn't think your minis will not get much past 2 feet at the end of the season. And most of that you'll lose over the winter and will have to prune off in the spring. So you'll be starting over. If they are planted in a well protected area they will fair better over the winter but you will still need to think about some kind of winter protection. My suggestion is to plant them deep and mound them high with soil, that can be gently washed away in the spring, for the winter.
