I don't know...we had a hard winter and my Boyne raspberries look like they almost died out! I couldn't believe it, they have never done this before. Plus it was very dry for us last year. Did you have a bad winter?

Thanks, weeper. Maybe its not over fertilizing. We did have a long winter, but no colder than usual. We always get into the mid -30C temps for a week or two. Most of my other plants are doing fine, with a few other odd exceptions. My Lambs Ear didn't come back this year. It was only two years old.

Well...you're not alone, most fruits suffered including Raspberries, it was the prolonged cold and then too hot getting out of dormancy.

Definitely a very long and hard winter, though my raspberries had managed it very well, much better than the previous winter, though still having produced a heavy crop in 2017. I do not fertilize them, I did so a few years ago and the canes grew massively tall and flopped over. My raspberries are ideally situated where they are for the most part out of the winter sun and being very well protected from winds, thus reducing desiccation. Otherwise, lots of things had been hard hit last winter, trees, shrubs and perennials, supposedly was the coldest winter in forty years and I would sure tend to agree !!
