We're still awaiting photos from that time period from the previous owners. If anyone knows how to research house history further, I'd appreciate the lead.

What is the style and era of the house? While you don't have to be slavishly period appropriate in your lighting, looking at the type of lighting it might have had originally could be a good place to start for inspiration.

I agree -- do something classic. I would wait for pictures before I would buy fixtures.

Gorgeous foyer! I hope you'll share more pictures of the house. I am also curious as to the era and style of the house because I do think that should inform the light fixtures. My initial inclination is some kind of semi-flushmount so it has a little "something" more than just a boring flush mount but not so lavish as a chandelier. I love some of the Rejuvenation fixtures, but I'm not certain if they are right for your house or not without knowing at least the era of the home.

These are all from Rejuvenation Lighting, and would be appropriate for an early 20th century house (though they vary in style from Arts and Crafts to Classical Revival).
