New Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree Spider Home! HELP!

Shelli Brown

I bought a fiddle leaf fig tree about a week ago. And in my haste to get it repotted and put in its new spot in my house, I forgot to give it a good hosing off... I discovered that several of the leaves are hiding spiderwebs/ eggs and spiders underneath them.

I'll try to include photos, I'm pretty sure they're definitely spiders and not spider mites. And I don't mind them living in my tree (I live in south Louisiana, so the occasional resident spider is very common) but I don't want them to hurt it. In some of the pics you can see some dead bugs in the webs so I doubt the spiders are eating the tree.

Any help and advice is greatly appreciated.
