I read long ago that after making your cutting, you need to let it dry. Then put it in a mix that isn't super rich (don't know why? I'd check it out first) that has some proper sand (proper???), stick it in, keep it moist, and yes. I got a new plant.

The short answer is yes, but head over to Cacti & Succulents forum and search “beheading” or “cutting”... you’ll get a wealth of information on how to go about successfully rooting the cutting :)

PS. “Sand” to be used for succulents and other plants is course, gravelly, large pieces like small gravel. No play sand or beach sand! (Read up on that In C&S forum too)
