Vanda orchid flower stalk stopped growing

I have a Vanda orchid that looks very healthy and large. It started to grow a flower spike, but then the it stopped. All there is is a small bud. It has stayed like that for over two weeks now.

it is not turning brown, just stopped growing.

Could this be be too much fertilizer?

i sometimes think that I over fertilize them, but none have the burn leaves they get when overfertilized.

I don't think it would be from fertilizer. I would expect to see burnt roots or leaf tips with fertilizer burn.

Has there been some kind of temperature change recently? Has the plant flowered before for you?

Yes, it has flowered before. I water it every day. No temperature change.

I actually had thrips on my vandals a few months ago. I found a way to get rid of them and now my vandals are flowering again.

No, this is not thrips or any insect, because the bud is healthy looking. It just doesn’t grow.

i am starting to feed it a fertilizer with a high phosphorus valium. Let’s see what happens.

I have seen vandas stop a spike and then resume growth, maybe a few cloudy days, or some weather change, as long as the spike is green and healthy, nothing to worry about. Orchids will force you to be patient....
