So gorgeous! I love it when roses show their stamens: it has an informal, yet opulent effect.

I love the ruffles and the stamens do make a statement. I am loving it already. Wow !

I LOVE Stanwell. Tough, hardy, charming blooms, sweet fragrance and some reliable rebloom all summer. Basically bulletproof against diseases and stretches of neglect. I'd be a thorny character, too, if I had to defend all that wonderfulness! I have grown SP since my MN days and adore this OGR as much in Portland as I did in Minneapolis, even with so many roses to choose from now.

Beautiful photos, Krista! It's so challenging to capture the delicate blush and creamy shades of SP's blooms with a camera. I applaud both your artistic and your technical skills

    Thank you, to all.

Carol, that's a lovely bloom... How tall and wide does yours grow?

Yes, Stanwell is a rose that I cherish. A unique rose; I like the arching growth habit, blooms and foliage.

Krista, my SP gets trimmed back every year and then arches forth to about 5.5 feet tall and 5 feet wide as it renews itself, covering its canes in a blooms. Like you, I love the arching habit and ferny foliage. Mine spills over a low fence. I also love that SP begins blooming early and ends late. He's one of the earliest in my garden.

I have a young Chestnut Rose with similar ferny foliage and look forward to seeing it grow into something the size of SP...or larger. I grew CR at my last garden but that was 16 years ago! Carol

Lovely pics with the bird's nest, Melissa.

Wonderful shots of this rose by everyone, with the beautifully crafted bird's nest as a bonus. I had SP in a past garden, and Chestnut Rose. I'd love to have SP again. Does anyone know how it does in dry heat? Krista, you've captured the ruffly blooms so very well.

Just lovely photos Krista, and your testimony reminds me I need to try this one again. I had one in my virtual zone 4 pocket and it didn't survive the winter, so I need to plant it in a better spot. It looks like yours is in part sun - does it bloom well under those conditions? How is the repeat bloom in a cold zone? Carol, it's great that you love this rose enough to grow it in the rose heaven of zone 8, so that alone is quite the endorsement. You might get more repeat bloom than we might in cold zones though.

Whoa, this is so exciting. What kind if bird do you it is ? I am just curious :)

    Blue Jay's ?

Cynthia, the repeat bloom is quite good. It gets dappled shade in the morning, and seems to do well without a full day's sun.
