I think it could. With lots and lots of supplemental water.

The problem would be lack of rain and humidity, just my guess. Not a drought-tolerant palm.

I wondered maybe by a pond or in it in shallow waters? Some resort set up or somebody who loves tropical gardening down there.

I watch every one of those vacation or buying shows in Cabo..never spotted one. I think it can be done.

I set up a specific habitat for my Cyrtostachys when I lived in South Florida- close to the house so I could wrap it in lights if a cold snap came along, next to a water feature and hose to keep humidity up. It did great. It's always a matter of how much effort you are willing to put into keeping it happy. Tossing it into a hole in the yard and catering to it's every wish every day are very two different things :) Given the price of a mature clump I'd be catering. I found the best specimens at the annual Palm Society sales.
