Even though the tree is not in a pot, it looks like a FWG product. If I was in the market, I would contact Pearson and see who the grower is just to be on the safe side. The website says the order will be shipped directly from the nursery so Pearson contracts it out.

I found a source for a dwarf red finger lime on ebay, but it's sold out. I think it's Brite Leaf because one of the aerial pictures match up on both websites. I keep telling myself I don't need one because of the thorns, but it's red so I kinda want it. If I ever were to get one, I am keeping that thing really small. To bring it inside and out during the winter, I would have to wear something to keep my face from being injured.

Oh I *know* you wouldn't want something that was a mass of thorns!!!! LOL And considering that my Australian red centre lime is a cross with a finger lime, the branching and thorns are very similar - very long and needle-like (not like those gigantic ones on some lemons or grapefruit but in some cases, just as long but thinner).

If you did ever get one, it would probably be best to be on flying dragon rootstock. My little lime (from Logee's) is on that and although the branches have extended out over 12 - 18", it has still stayed small in height after a year (literally no more than 12" tall). Since I have this, I wanted the red finger lime to get the long thin fruit and true roundish "pink" vesicles (whereas this little tree will have fruit that is more "lime-shaped" with elongated "pink" vesicles).

PacNorWreck, Isn't it a shame you pay a middle man for something? I guess if you are tired of waiting and want one bad enough, you will pay the money. I pay an average of $75 for a premium tree including shipping from Four Winds Growers.

jenny, I really do not want a plant with thorns. I have my all plants on caddies and during the winter they go up on a ramp from the concrete patio to go into the sunroom. I have to lift up the caddy's arm to go up the ramp and then straighten up my body. I have already scratched up my face last year and knocked off my glasses. Let's not add thorns. lol. I would like a red finger lime to be small and kept on a plant stand or table.

I hear ya Denise. My little lime was treated exactly like that this past winter - on a stand and it kept itself small. It is in an 8" pot. Here it was during winter (near a monstera) -

Thanks for the info, Denise! That’s very sweet of you! I called them earlier this year and the ST was going to be about $120 after shipping. It was definitely a backup, though :). The person I talked to did say they were facing a shortage this year due to the rain. I’m guessing that’s why FWG has such limited stock.

Kelley, how do you get $120 for one tree? Was shipping $60?

Wow, $48 for shipping and I thought $35 was bad from FWG. I guess Pearson is getting a cut of the shipping charges too.

Kelly - with the recent Supreme Court ruling, "sales tax" on orders will now be required pretty much everywhere for any online ordering (at least within the U.S., with the exception of the handful of states that don't have a state sales tax like DE, NH, MT, OR, or AK).

And that is a bit of a heads-up for folks as that will add to the cost of the trees when ordering online. Yikes.

Guess that means Steve & Bob and others are ahead of the game with their mass grafting. ;-)
