Garden sunburn?

Anyone else have sudden extreme sun burn on all of their plants? This was very sudden onset, so much so that there are permanent shadows cast across the leaves where something was blocking the light. Well established plants that were outdoors all season succumbed to burn. Never seen anything like this in 20 years of gardening.

Turns out it is Ozone burn! The combination of extreme air pollution with extreme UV produces ozone at ground level (which can be lethal I might add). It is highly damaging to plants. I have never heard of this before.
