Silica, That is so sweet of you! Thank you, (but now I feel guilty). I wish I had something to trade, but all my stuff is what I consider common. Calamondin, key lime, thornless key lime, meyer lemon, ponderosa lemon, clementine, meiwa kumquat and a australian finger lime(green one) and a variegated eureka lemon. Everyone else has the really cool ones. Lol. Everywhere I checked this year was already sold out of New Zealand Lemonade.

Jinnylea - Where did you get a Sugarbelle? I really want one and the only place I can find that sells it (Harris) only offers it for wholesale purchase.

Alanna, try to contact briteleaf. I got one from them this spring via brugmansia-quebec here in Canada.

I'm pretty sure that Briteleaf only carries Honeybelles and not Sugarbelles. I have seen other Canadians who are getting their hands on them.

Alanna, I ordered the Sugarbelle from BriteLeaf. They do not have it listed but I called them about a pre-order on another variety that was in for me and asked if they had any Sugarbelle available, by chance, and on dwarfing rootstock. They did not have any available on a dwarf rootstock, but they had a few available on Rub. and they could ship it to me outside of Florida. I did pay a patent fee for it. I have tried for 2 years to aquire a Sugarbelle from Harris but Ruth told me they could not ship that variety out of Florida at the time. I found that odd since I know people in Canada have received the tree from Harris.. I would contact BriteLeaf and ask them if they have any available, they go pretty fast and you may be able to pre-order on a Dwarf rootstock.

I will try to post a few pictures if my connection will let me upload. It is really slow right now.

Alanna my tree from Briteleaf is really a SugarBelle and it’s on Us897 rootstock which is supposed to be dwarf.

I have another one on x639 (regular size) from harris last year.

I really recommend a dwarf size for this variety if you don’t want to have a treehouse on it because mine is already bigger than what I expected. Very vigourous tree!

Alanna, here is my sugar belle.

Amy - that's your dwarf. Do you think they are both vigorous or just the standard size one. I really do try to pay attention to rootstock discussions are here because who wants to spend years caring for a tree only to find out it's on a lousy rootstock for you, but I do find it overwhelming. I had big plans to add a few (including a sugarbelle) to my collection this season, but do to personal reasons, I probably need to wait. It kills me to know I'm wasting precious time where trees could be growing to fruiting size, but things are messy around here right now.

Alanna, here is the picture of the Sugarbelle from BriteLeaf. The tree must of been hot and parched during its travel and all of the new top growth was weak and fragile, but after giving it a good drink to quench it's thirst and keeping it in the shade for a few days the leaves and branches perked up, but the tree is still a bit droopy. As soon as the tree acclimates to its new home and is not as stressed, I will repot and temporary stake it.

it’s too early for me to answer your question now because I just got my dwarf SugarBelle a couple of weeks ago so it’s not enought time for me to compare the growth habit of both trees. What I know is that the dwarf one already has a lot of new growths.

I will try to provide a clear picture of my regular one but it’s a little bit more complicate to pull it out because it’s behind all the other trees and attached to our fenced. This tree is on recovery mode from our cold and windy spring here so there is not much to talk about. It has a very long beautiful branch that the stupid fat squirrel who lives in our neighbourhood manage to break (He thinks that he’s Tarzan or something like that to impress the females I guess).

Amy - don't move everything around now. Take a picture next time you move them, even if it's in the fall. I'll want to see how the lush new growth then anyway. And tell that squirrel to go on a diet!
