I think that's great! It's way better than having them shrink to nothing! You can just cut a portion off to make the clump smaller when and if you desire.

Easy to put a spade down and cut out divisions..The decision then is what to do with them.....I used to pot a trailer full up for the church fall festival. The dirt and time were so not worth what they got for the plants. :(

I have potted up divisions in the past and sold them, but as you said, it is a lot of work.

Make the bed bigger so it matches the plant. Add colorful mini hostas along the new front edge. Voila!, less grass to mow!

I see a lot of grass that can be removed.

Making the bed deeper is not an option! In my zone, grass areas are needed to have space for snow removal. But that bed is actually quite large. Also, I have many garden beds already and have to face the reality of my age and ability to maintain them. The problem seems that many of my hostas have now become enormous and overwhelming.

But thanks for the comments. I had been sitting in my sunroom when that hosta caught my eye and I went out and took a picture. It shocked me to notice how huge it was and I thought I’d share. That’s all. It was my first hosta purchase many years ago. It has certainly been vigorous!

you are barking up the wrong tree.. in this forum ... suggesting anything need be done.. lol ...

but then.. this is why hosta are often seen at the curb with a sign that says .. FREE ...

one option.. would be to find a neighbor/garden friend ... who might want them.. and will come dig them up themselves ... personally... i am not one to list things on the www ... and invite strangers to my house ... but others like to use things like craigs list or some such ...
