It's quite hot these couple of days. The room temperature is about 85 F sometimes. The 1st picture is RS aquamarine. The lower leaves keep turning black starting from the tip. The 2nd picture is ian minuet. There are couple of leaves in the middle level has brown spots but it look normal on the surface of the leaves.

Check with your water provider (if you use it to water your plants) to see if they use Chloramines ... which, along with the heat, will kill your AV's.

If Chloramines are present in your water, ... you should start to water with jugged Spring water or other alternative.

Also check into getting a small fan to cool your plants.

    Aegis,

I think I don't have chloramines in water because other AV are fine. So, it means too hot for these 2 av. The rest of the AV don't have this symptoms. I will have a fan for them. Thank you.

Just will add my Aquamarine is super fussy too. Surprises me because it is not variegated or anything. My leaves keep turning yellow. I thought maybe it was getting too much light so I took it off the light stand and put it in the window. Its blooming heavy and seems happy.

All my plants are rotting from the tip. I keep my house pretty hot, 82 degree during the day when nobody is in the house. I suspected the high temperature is the reason behind it. Yours confirmed my theory.

I grow the aquamarine at the window and I don't find it fussy at all. Probably it like the window. Its lower leaves turn brown because of the heat recently. So far I have 4 plants out of 16 are not doing well because of the heat. I'm surprised that pink watercolor which is variegated, she is doing well under the heat so far. Rose bouquet is deteriorating. :(

I wonder if the leave turning brown, is it mean there is root rot at the same time?

Root rot generally results in a limp plant ... and can be problematic for the plant to recover from. In general, it's a much more serious condition than a little leaf browning.

Heat can be a problem though. Is there anywhere else you can sit your plants for the summer. Maybe a cool basement ... away from the bright lights ? AV's can survive without bright light for a good while. They will rest a bit and will be ready for renewed blooming in the fall.

Its a relieve if there is no root rot. Usually my plants are safe in summer. I'm renovating the basement recently. There is no room on first floor. Most of the plants stay on 2nd floor. I already move 5 plants that don't look good to first floor. I have to cross my fingers that no heat wave coming.

If these 3 green leaves are gone, will the plant survive? I already starting using dyna gro foliage pro fertilizer last week.

It needs the green for photosynthesis. If you remove them it may live but will grow even slower.

So I guess it depends on itself now. The lower green leaves keep turning brown recently. It's a race between greening up and browning leaves.

Dyno grow is good thats what Violet Barn uses and myself. The color it is needs more light and less water. Because its not growing as fast be light on the water. That has worked for me with rose bouquet and watermelon snow.

Thanks, I'm starting to use dyno too. So I should put it in bright light. And leave it on wick is ok?

Under the heat, irish lassie is the winner.
