I always pray that plant deliveries happen early enough in the day so that I can get them unpacked, watered, stashed somewhere unobtrusive, and the boxes disposed if before the husband gets home.

Of course he knows I spend a fortune but I try not to rub his nose it in too often.

I agree with Gary. I only started my hosta collection a couple of years ago and I am now approaching 250 hostas with no visible end in sight. Welcome to the addiction there is no cure! LOL!

Let me guess, you were just looking for one certain plant and then thought, "as long as I'm paying for shipping I just as well add a couple more". Kind of like the old Lays Potato Chip commercial, No one can eat just one : )

Yup,I am an addict and have been for 20plus years. I have lost count on how many I have or types. One of my weird issues is that I have a hard time splitting them even though on a lot of mine you can not even tell because of their size.

Oh, I also cannot refuse free hostas either :)

Great choices! (Don’t listen to Ken ; he has GE envy - yours is going to be a beast) There is a very good post about planting depth and siting for GE - let us know if you need the link.

The only thing that has curbed the collecting for me is switching to creating - I’m in early stages of creating and I would say the obsessiveness is similar. I used to leave to “buy groceries” and sneak off to the garden centre first...then unload the plants in the side garden before taking my few grocery bags in the house.

I wish Gesila would post a picture of the ones she planted in the park behind her house. I wonder if she expanded the hosta bed or just let it grow with those first plantings.

I also wish I could remember which hosta is which these days. I always know Liberty thanks to Papou and June and a few others, but I just am not as talented at recognizing names. Too stupid. Maybe I will start mapping as I plant! I expect a delivery tomorrow. Happy happy.

I'm not addicted - I can quit anytime. In fact, I haven't bought any Hosta in nearly a week now.

My wife has been through enough of my addictions, that she's actually trying to enjoy this one. She even has 2 Hostas of her own - Blue Mouse Ears and Illicit Affair.

A list of great plants. I bought about 18 this year but there's plenty of time to order and purchase more. Just added a new bed--so we promptly filled it up. However, we are also addicted to daylilies. This year we also got hooked on different hellebores---so there's so much to order.

Sounds like some of you are more of an addict than I am. I would never replace my turf for Hostas.

Addiction to Hosta beats addiction to green grass maintenance anytime of a day for me. I have no grass.

I need a balance of plants and turf, we have four well behaved dogs, love my dogs more than my myriad hosta, although my hosta and daylilies are mighty fine!

I wish we had one more big tree in the backyard so we could do the whole backyard in hostas. We'll be able to take half of what's left of the grass for them and do the other part in sun plants at least. Hostas are my favorite. And fortunately my husband feels the same way so I don't have to fight too much to have more.
