Fire on the Mountain is so bright!

Question: a few years ago you sent me Sovereign Queen. Do recall how it did in height? It is always just at the top of the foliage for me. It is so pretty but that is very disappointing.

Fire on the Mountain is definitely my favorite of these. Freedom's Triumph is pretty. Rose Masterpiece might be lighter because of your high temps. I know temps in the 90s affects mine in that color range. It sounds like you plan on moving a lot of stuff around.

Brad: I'll have to go on my PC and check photos for SQ. I don't recall but if it was just above the foliage here, I would have stated it in my previous years postings. I'll check though and post back. I tried searching Houzz and all my Photobucket photos are blanked out.

Debra: Rose Masterpiece may be just reacclimating to the new soil it has been planted in. I noticed though that Jellyfish Jealousy which is also on that end of the garden bed also came up lighter but like you said, it could be the heat. Yes, lots of movement this year as I'm trying to get things a bit easier for me to maintain and eliminate most of the beds in front and consolidate those plantings into other beds or eliminate. Tough decisions ahead.

I love FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN. I also grow it and I am always surprised when the same plants in your garden bloomer sooner than mine. You are about 45 minutes north of me, but a zone warmer. I have FOTM planted next to my driveway and would think that the heat would speed things up, but it doesn't. I believe FOTM will bloom this weekend. FOTM is a rapid increaser and a bloom machine. I dug into it last year to sell two pieces and it appears to not have missed a beat. I think I am going to dig it up and leave a double fan for myself when I go to MD for the sale/auction I attend every August.

Fire on the Mountaina is my favorite. I am looking forward to clump shots of Mean Green. Funny, I am moving South Seas out this year too...good plant, but I have some new ones I want o plant...I am not expanding and hopefully will e continuing to get a bit smaller....but won't happen this year. Freesonm's Triump is looking good.

David: It has been good here and glad I got it from the Carpenters several years ago along with several other plants. Good luck with your sale.

Kay: I'm just moving things around and believe me it is hard to decide who stays and who goes. My focus is going more towards mixed plantings with less maintenance, if that is even possible.

Storm came through an hour ago, terrific lightning, thunder shaking the house and a bucket load of rain. Still muggy here so hopefully this pushes out quickly.

Those are some beautiful reds and pinks, but my heart belongs to Mean Green today.

Fire on the Mountain is a nice saturated red, but is awful here this year, blooming well below the foliage. Looks ridiculous with those large flowers and lush foliage on top. I must say that even in good years, I would prefer it to be a bit taller for that size flower. Freedom's Triumph here could throw some nice blooms after many malformed ones; past tense and no regrets, since I gave it a number of years to be consistent. Your Mean Green looks so vigorous; same here, and it certainly will come down in price with that vigor. It does look as though your RM may have fewer buds this year with the move. I always like the way you show the whole plant. Obviously, you have had good moisture so far.

Fire on the Mountain is a striking red, very pretty. I also really like Mean Green, South Seas, and Freedom’s Triumph. Nice group!
