We have about a 15x15x8' master bedroom with a pop out window 82"x9" on east wall - kind of like an alcove. There will be a built in wardrobe on wall opposite the windows (west wall) with a Cal King bed centered on the south wall. We will add crown moulding in the room. My husband had our contractor build a soffit for over the bed. There is an A/C vent above the bed 17" from the wall so he built an 86"Lx24" D soffit to accommodate the vent. there will also be 2 LED lights installed in soffit. Soffit to be installed today. I wasn't part of this planning discussion and I think 24" is way too deep and might look odd above the bed, almost like an awning. We just installed a pocket door in master bedroom between the head of the bed and the wardrobe so the soffit will go between the door and the window wall. Any advice would be most appreciated.
