Need help with kitchen design

This is for an unusual project. It's a car condo built specifically to store cars on the ground level and the mezzanine is designed for each individual owner to build out to their own specifications. We are not going to live there. I'm trying to get a workable kitchen designed more contemporary than what I would do at home and I will probably be doing a considerable amount of entertaining here. I have limited space and have decided that a small U shaped works the best. I don't have the option to make this any bigger. There needs to be space for a full bathroom. A sectional sofa with a large tv must fit along with a full size table past where the counter seating is. An architect has drawn up a plan and this is the most room I have for the kitchen. My two questions are 1) in the first design the cabinets with glass are on bottom. I feel that those higher cabinets are just starting at the top line of the refrigerator and will be difficult to access. Also, I'm not sure how practical those horizontal cabinets with glass will be. 2) the 2nd design has the horizontal cabinets with glass on the top? does anyone like that better? other ideas? 3) which style hood do you like best? Euro style or other bulkier. The cabinets are wood slab doors in a storm grey stain which is grey/taupe. Any suggestions or comments will be appreciated.
