Citrus Root Rot! Can if be saved?

My Meyer lemon has root rot. I looked in the soil and there was nearly no feeder roots. The trunk is starting to get sticky with some sap and the leaves are starting to yellow (though that could be from the hot Texas sun). The bark around the trunk is starting to peel off despite being shaded with foliage. I did some research on the topic and it said there is no way to save the tree. Is there anyone that has experience with citrus root rot?

I had a tree with root rot but not to the extent you are describing. I had drainage problems, corrected it, and now it's sending up new foliage. I am sorry about your tree.

Generally the tree appears to be healthy. Less than a quarter of the leaves are yellowing. I’m trying to catch the issue early, but I’m not sure if it can saved based off of the research I found.
