I have a Golden Barrel cactus in a pot that needs to be repotted, however, i'd like to keep the pup attached, if possible. If not, what is the best way to separate it from the mother?

I originally bought it in 1983 in a 6" pot and now its only in its second pot since then.

I need to buy a good pair of welding gloves to handle this guy!
