Remodeling Design Dilemma Entry

Entry Door Refinishing and Hardware Advice Help

We are thinking of refinishing the entry door instead of buying a new one. For the stain, we are leaning to darkening the door {more brown) and getting away from the brass. What is difficult is that the interior levers are all satin nickel. What should I do for exterior? Would nickel work or should I do bronze outside with nickel inside? The kick plate will be removed and not replaced and will maybe try to change out the threshold color. Any recommendations for this refinishing for the stain and hardware?

What material is the door made of? How about a picute in the daylight? How about another pic of the entire front elevation of the home?

With the door stuck back in a dark alcove with darkish brick surrounding it, I would be looking at painting the door at lighter, brighter color and not staining it darker.

To restain the door, you will have to remove every last bit of the clear coat. To paint, you would need to only scuff sand and apply an appropriate primer and paint.

If it was my house and I decided to replace the door, I would eliminate the side light and center the door. (Personal quirk--Single side lights bug the bejeezus out of me.)
