Perennials Midwest Gardening Polls

Help to identify pls!

My friend has a large group of this perennial in her garden left by the previous owner it’s about 10 feet tall, doesn’t have flowers so much as bracts and someone told her it was woodland poppies....I don’t think so! Maybe an old fashioned wildflower? Any ideas? Thanks so much!

It is Macleaya - Plume Poppy. A plant I like very much despite it being a (easily controlled) spreader. The honey bees love the flowers, your friends are not fully open yet.

Thank you so much! Yes, she does say it spreads but she’s keeping it as an anchor for the back of her bed.
