Cleanability is going to be an important consideration!

Buy a piece of leftover carpet in whatever color is available that you like. You have no idea what nasty things will end up on that carpet! It will be a biohazard in a couple of years. Don't spend too much - when it gets smelly and disgusting, dump it.

How about the story of the baby that painted the wall with the contents of his diaper...We had wall to wall in our nursery's and never regretted it. I guess all things considered we had very "clean" babies. Remember your babies room is a very important LEARNING environment for them. Color, texture, shapes all very important from early on.
