We are changing the flooring in the "great room" area of our home to tile. Small doorway entry, living room, dining room, and morning room are all connected in a slightly offset ("Z") floor plan. A powder bath is separated only by a few hardwood stairs. We intend to change the tile to match the main area as well.

The powder bath is approximately 59" x 70".

The distance from the living room wall to the dining room wall is approximately 24' 5" L.

The distance from the kitchen wall to the morning room wall is approximately 18' 7" L.

The distance between walls in the living room is approximately 12' 7" D.

The distance from the dining room wall to the kitchen wall is approximately 25' 9" D.

The distance between walls in the morning room is approximately 10' 9" D.

We have decided to use Cotto Contempo tiles from DalTile in Wall Street.

We are leaning towards a diagonal bond (grid laid on a 45 degree angle) pattern with the 20" x 20" tiles in all areas. We considered a hopscotch type pattern but felt it was a little too busy with the movement in the tile.

Does anyone have an opinion about the choice of tile size and pattern we are leaning toward regarding flow, size of rooms, etc.? Any advice or opinions are appreciated. Thank you.

Please disregard the lines...they are indicative of the current tile pattern that was put in with the initial build of the home. We are planning to tile the entire space shown minus the garage and stairs.
