Does no one have an opinion on my question?

I've read about phals and vandas being grown in water filled vases, but never a phrag. That said, if it seems to be working "go for it" as a lot of orchids can be pretty adaptable IMO. My only concern would be if it does start to go south, it may be very difficult to get it to adapt to another media before it is too late.

As far as watering, I'd fertilize the water at recommend strength and let the phrag sit in it for 10-15 minutes, then dump and refill with your non-fert water.

FWIW: During winter when they are indoors I let my phrags sit in individual saucers of water which gets changed weekly when I water everything, I forget the saucers and just water heavily 2-3x per week when they are outside during summer.

Thanks, Bob! I may end up potting this fella with sphagnum and bark and do the 2-3 times a week routine, but I have a hard time remembering.

I use a fine bark mix for my phrags, same mix used with my paphs. I use an orchiata mix as it seems to hold up well to the constant moisture. I also use tall pots for my phrags as they develop substantial root systems when going well.
