Are these being grown in a container? Too much water or too much fertilizer would be my first guess.

Age could be a factor but OG's like pretty lean growing conditions for the most part, especially native prairie grasses.

Yes, they are being grown in large planters, which is why I thought to water every other day. I had read that Heavy Metal likes a moist soil. I have not fertilized but did add a top layer of manure.
