I also look at the weather and try to time pulling it during a dry spell which should be easy this summer. I typically pull when about half the leaves are dead. If they are all dead, the cloves start to split and it doesn’t store well. I wouldn’t wait for much more than another week for yours.

Peter, I'm just checking back here to see if you've pulled your garlic yet. I harvested mine yesterday and I've very pleased. The timing was right since the forecast is for rain for most of the week.

I haven't yet pulled it-- I guess I should today...

I pulled about 2/3 of mine before leaving for the weekend and it’s drying in the kitchen. The last few plants were still growing well, so I left them for now and will hope for drier weather next week. The rain is welcome for now.

One thing not mentioned above is that I find the different varieties have slightly different maturity times. I grow three types, and one is ready for pulling about 110 days to 2 weeks earlier. However, it has been so long since I bought seed garlic that I have no idea of the types any longer.

Harvest times vary by variety. Over on the allium list, there are a whole bunch of us who grow garlic from all over the country. Mine has been all out now for quite a while, some well over a month and is all completely cured and ready to bag up.

Note that you can fudge toward harvesting early, but if you harvest too late, the cloves will come apart and not store. The balance is between how long to wait to get maximum bulb size versus harvesting safely a bit earlier. I never wait past the lower half of the plant's leaves drying out. The tops are often still real green. Most of my garlics are hardnecks.
