help with modern fireplace placement of electronics.

We are updating our newly pursuers 1980s home and the first project was to get rid of the built ins around the old brick style fireplace.

Our goal is to have a clean and modern look with electric fireplace, walnut mantle and flat screen tv.

After I demo’d everything down to the studs I wasn’t able to make the popout deeper (I will spare you the story) so our original design plan will not work.

My question is, does anyone have any suggestions on a design for a space to the left of the popout for a modern looking entertainment cabinet to house the receiver, Apple TV, and other electronics to complete our look?

Original design called for 10” deep shelves and giving the popout more depth but we can no longer do that so we are only doing the mantel the width of the popout with no shelves.

I know need some ideas on what to build to the left of the tv to house all the electronics that my wife hates to look at

From left to right pictures show
- before
- my original design with 10” deep mantle and shelves
- starting to lay the tile out so you can see the space
- all framed up to show what we are working with
