Which way does the balcony door slide? It would be nice if it slid from right to left so that all your traffic corridor would be on the right side of the room. I suspect, though, from the way it is drawn that that is not the case.

Do they need a dining table?

You need to preserve the right side of the room as a traffic corridor from the kitchen to the den. I would put the TV on the left wall and float the sofa opposite it, set far enough in from the slider to allow traffic flow there. Accent chairs at each end of the sofa facing in. Side tables at the corners of the seating arrangement as needed.

Or put the TV in the den along with sofa and chairs. Use living room for a dining area and maybe two comfy chairs for reading

You don't say how large the furniture is, but do they need it all? Here is an arrangement with minimum clearances, but no dining table and chairs will fit. You might get a small dining table in if you eliminate one of the chairs.

Never mind. You won't get a dining set in here, no way, no how. I hope that's a breakfast bar, or maybe they like eating standing up at the sink. ;-)

The patio doors open from right to left so that is a good thing to keep the traffic to the right. The kitchen wall is open to the living room and has a table height counter for their main dining area. I planned to put two dining chairs on the living room side and maybe a pull out bench or stools from the kitchen side for extra seating. It is a senior home they don't really need a formal dining area at all. Groveraxle I love your layout ideas! This really helps me visualize the possibilities.
