Why is it being the same colour a bad thing? Not everything should be the star. Supporting actors are important to the story too. Let your accessories do the singing and let the console gracefully accompany them.

Accent furniture items always stump people. They can either blend, contrast, or compliment depending on the overall look you are going for. And you'll wind up getting feedback here that fits into all of these categories.

In this case, the table falls into the blend category - with the flooring. It will stand out against the sectional, depending on its color.

If you chose a black iron piece for instance, that could possibly fall into the contrast and/or compliment area, again depending on the fabric its sitting against, and other tables/lighting in the space.

Say you chose a completely unique cabinet style console. That would fall into the contrast family - as it would be able to hold its own in the room.

All that matters is that you love it!

I really can't comment on this without knowing how this will be placed in the space. If it's going to be behind your couch and against a wall (where it really won't be seen), then it obviously doesn't matter. If it's going to be behind the couch and what you will see when you first walk into the space, then I personally would probably not get something that was the same color as the floor. That's a little too boring for me.
