I would like to bring it inside to enjoy the flowers but the soil is buggy. Do you spray with insecticide first?

Mine are in pots so there's no problem bringing them in. If they were planted in the ground or one of my barrels and if I wasn't planning to attempt for seeds then I might cut the stalks and put them in a vase.

To date, the varieties that summer bloom for me have always been in pots. About 2 weeks before I bring them in for the long winter we will spray with an insecticide mainly for mealy bugs. but this year we have two new very curious kitties so I don't know what I will do!! I may not be able to spray, they may have to come in bugs and all!!

If I only had a few pants this would be a great solution but as I probably have a few hundred pots and don't have a strong back, I wouldn't be able to pull this off!! Great idea though....:-)

Donna, can we please see pictures of your summer blooms?

You could try a natural product containing neem oil to spray your bulbs. It would not do any harm to your kitties.

Hi Anja!

Several years ago I had a much prettier blooming of Splash with all 4 flowers out at once; this one just has two open with the other two lagging behind but pretty enough! splash is quite fragrant by the way.

Terra Mystica is a workhorse, for me anyway, but the trait I'm not too fond of is that of the 4 flowers the first two open way ahead of the last two. I know many varieties do that though.

Any summer bloom is appreciated but I don't see anything else coming along down the pike yet but there are two more months to go!

Very beautiful :-))) and even though I'm not a fan of the doubles, she is quite pretty. The only thing I have is my San Antonio Rose that always flowers in the summer. Earlier in the season I had a record four scapes (sorry, forgot to take a picture) but just within a week or so, another surprise scape is poking up :-)))))

Thank you, Donna:-))! I agree with Fred about the doubles and your Splash and I just love your Terra Mystica! I remember it looking always a bit different from all the others. Mine is growing very well too, leaves and offsets, but no sign of a scape. I've had summer blooms in the past years too but I haven't seen anything like a scape yet this time. We are having a very hot and dry summer and I think they would need at least a few cooler days to send out a scape.

Well, the garden is a blooming paradise right now and I'm enjoying your pictures so I don't care much...
