Fiddle leaf fig mold?

last modified: 8 years ago

I’ve had this tree for about a year. Had a rough patch at the beginning where it lost a lot of leaves and some leave from then are still attached but brown at the edges. It’s had a lot of new growth this year and I think overall it’s doing well

My concern is that there is what appears to be mild growing in the drainage holes. It’s still in the original pot it came in and sits inside a decoratice pot. When I water it I let it sit in the sink for a few hours to drain. I scraped the mold away a couple of weeks ago but it’s back again.

do I have to repot to get rid of it? Or is there something else I can do?

I’m scared to repot but how do you know in general when it’s time? The soil on the top seems to be wearing out
