And a few more.... Honey Pie x2. They were moved last year and suffered a bit afterwards, but came back well this spring. They get quite a bit of sun, and show a little burn on some leaves, but also get a lot of water and seem to grow and put out new leaves all season.

Luna Moth, with Fluted Fountain in the left rear... these were both planted last year and seem to be coming along just fine. LM gets a fair amount of sun, so her colors are perhaps a bit washed out. Still in pots (just got 'em this spring) are Silver Bay, and Antioch peeking in from the right.

June - the one I freaked out about when I saw an anomaly on one leaf... haven't seen any other problems, and she seems to like this location (got her in 2016).

Frosted Dimples, bought in 2016, nearly burned to a crisp the first year in a very sunny spot. Last year I moved it here and it seemed better. This year it has done very well, kept its nice color, and grown some... looking forward to it leaping eventually. Love Pat is behind, new last year. El Nino is to the side, also new last year. Blue Dolphin is in the pot... I just got it at the Hosta Society sale in May. What was I thinking... another large blue that needs shade? I really have no idea where I will plant it, so it will be in a pot until there is more shade to be found. Or until I give it to the neighbor....

Touch of Class... this one doesn't yet look like some of the beautiful specimens I've seen in forum pictures, but I'm pretty thrilled that its starting to grow this year. Bought in 2016, as with June - I had to move it around until I found a good location. Fragrant Dream, new this year, is in the pot behind.

Just one more, then I'll stop. Here's a full-sun, south bed that has looked pretty good this summer. It does include some hostas - Cathedral Windows is to the right of the Rose of Sharon, and to the right of it is Gold Drop. This photo was taken over a month ago.... since then the Rose of Sharon started to bloom beautifully - it's a Blue Satin and has a gorgeous color - but then the blasted beetles swarmed in and ruined most of the flowers and buds. Cathedral Windows is totally fried from temps in the 90s and 100's. Gold Drop is also somewhat sunburned, but really holds up fairly well.

For having beetles, rabbits, and excessive heat, your hostas look great! They're growing really well. I bet your water feature makes a nice sound in the garden, too.

My Luna Moth also has faint coloring, but I thought it was too much shade.

sandy- yes, we sit on the porch and can hear the bubbling... very peaceful.

nicholsworth- thanks! We just got that fountain going this summer... the plan is to drain it and cover well with plastic... I hope that will be sufficient. It works with the birdbath, and the neighbors do that with some ceramic pots... so I’m hopeful.

windymess..I think your winters might be a little warmer than mine..good luck..the sound of water flowing is the best..

I can see why you are happy with them, they have put on good growth. In spite of all the challenges with weather, bugs and rabbits there are always bright spots. Some just laugh off everything - clearly these have.

It is hard to resist those big blues!

DH has had good luck with putting overripe fruit, sugar water and bakers yeast in the following contraption to capture Japanese beetles. He throws them in the pond to feed the fish. For some reason they don’t fly out and mainly drown.

Your hostas are lovely and tough, withstanding harsh weather and Japanese beetles.

I adore the combination of Luna Moth, Fluted Fountain, Silver Bay and Antioch together. I may have to imitate that one! Everything looks fantastic, actually.

kathy- thanks for the suggestion. I’ve got a bag of Milky Spore in the garage that I’m going to spread very soon... we’ll try that too. I’m assuming that since they were bad around here this year, they will be again in the future, so I’ll bring out all the ammunition!!!

cyn- thanks! I’m think I’m going to put Silver Bay in the ground to the left of where the FF and LM are, so they will be together... and I may put Antioch to the right of that grouping, but I’ll have to move a couple of others first.

Your Squash Casserole looks perfect! I like the Autumn Frost beside it too. Mourning Dove looks like a pretty hosta. Tick Tock is so cute! I love your water feature. It is a pretty color. You did such tidy landscaping around it. Looks to me you have a lot to be happy about!
