Yes, squash and pumpkins with their very broad leaves will wilt to some degree in direct sun, even when it's not scorching hot. Be careful you don't overwater to compensate for the wilting. I think as long as the leaves perk back up in the evening/morning, you're probably ok.

Wilting means your plants are not able to draw the moisture they need. Either due to lack of water or crowded roots or other root issues. I used to get tons of wilting when I hand watered. Now I use a soaker hose and even at 98 degrees they only wilt a little bit here and there, and actually recover while the afternoon sun is still pouring on them. On a 90F degree day I will see zero wilting. The neighboring farm's pumpkin patch doesn't wilt even the tiniest bit... ever.

I don't know your situation but most people don't give vining squashes nearly a large enough zone of soil moisture and fertility. Their roots travel far and wide just like their vines. I grow three vines on a 25x20 foot plot of prepared ground, all watered deeply. I think a larger plot would be better.
