Nothing is wrong with them :-) That's just the way they grow. Turk's cap lilies (Lilium superbum) and their hybrids will have a downward facing flower. If you want a lily flower that faces up, look at the Asiatics.

There may be some hybrid reversion going on there :-) Since the vast majority of sold lilies tend to be hybrids of mixed parentage, sometimes those inherited traits are not fully stable and over time, changes in appearance or coloring can happen (see thread on 'lilies changing color'). Not the most common thing in the world but it does happen. And not much you can do about it except separate those that no longer match your vision.

Sorry it took me so long to see your comment. Maybe I just don’t know what I’m doing, but I’m not able to see your picture. So did you have all “normal” lilies and the downward ones just started showing up on their own? That’s what mine did. We just moved the upside down ones outside of our fence to a new area we’re landscaping and, unfortunately, the deer are eating them.

There is nothing wrong with them. That's just how they grow. It's called Martagon Lilies: Upside Down and Under-Appreciated.

I have these in the front of my house and I use the Asiatics in my back gardens and a mix of Martagon in a s.all box in front of my house with Climatis.
